Thankful Thursday

>> Thursday, February 18, 2010

The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults,
And with my song I shall thank Him.
Psalm 28:7

I'm so thankful that as we go through trials and testings,when people, even those who are close to us, disappoint us, the Lord is our strength and our shield. If we set our face toward Him, we can totally trust Him. He helps us to KEEP our eyes on Him and know that He is very capable of handling the hurt or the situation. Therefore causing our hearts to rise up in a fresh confidence in Him. And He gives us the ability to sing a new song to Him with a heart that is filled with great thanksgiving. That's my version of the verse.

One of my friends recently said some hurtful things. I immediately had to choose to focus on God who is my strength and my shield. God will never fail us nor forsake us. He is ever faithful in His love for us.

I'm so thankful for His goodness and His grace in my life. I'm so thankful that He is faithful to correct me in righteousness and cover me in His mercy.

I'm so thankful that He fills my heart with a new song of thankfulness to Him!

We serve an amazing Father who loves us extravagantly!

I am so sorry you had those hurtful words spoken to you, but I am glad we have a great God that is bigger than those words. I am working through some icky church stuff, so this posting was a wonderful reminder to me. Thanks!

It's hard when hurtful words come from a friend, but I too am grateful that God is the ultimate friend. He will never forsake us.

Mary, we both know that if there is one thing we can always count on it is that everyone eventually lets us down. It is especially hurtful when it comes from someone who is suppose to be our friend..I'm sorry you experienced that recently. But you are soo right of course. Our Lord NEVER lets us down, He is ALWAYS constant, always the same, loves us unconditionally way more than we can ever imagine. Oh, and you are soo right about grandkids. Never has the Lord ever given a better blessing. Congratulations on your newest. He's adorable. Have a wonderful day. Blessings to you, Debbie

By focusing on God, rather than the hurt - you magnified God, and didn't magnify the problem. Thus, you've brought glory to God. He's smiling on you!

May He continue to smile on you!

I wish I could say the same, but my reaction is always to focus first on the hurt. Afterwards, I realize my mistake... but next time around, there I go again. And it always catches me by surprise. Thanks for sharing this. I hope I get better at this thankfulness thing, but the meme does help a lot.

i totally understand the hurt. but you did the right thing by focusing on God instead of the hurt. that's not an easy thing to do but glad you were able to make that quick shift. He is our strength and He saw everything that happened. remember, our God is also a just God. if we leave room for His wrath (so to speak)we can be sure that He won't allow us to be shortchanged. we just need to keep on trusting Him to make a way for us.

Hurtful words from a friend sting all the way to our hearts. But, our Father loves the hurt away sweetie.
